Service Writer / Manager / Customer Service Representative

Join Our Automotive Family — We’re Always Looking for the Right People

Taylor Automotive is looking for the right person to help lead the customer experience, support our technicians, and keep the daily flow of the shop organized, honest, and professional.

Automotive knowledge is helpful, but character matters just as much as experience. We are looking for someone with integrity, humility, accountability, strong communication skills, emotional steadiness, and a genuine desire to help people.

We may not have an immediate opening at the time you apply, and we may not reach out right away. But when the right person comes along, we pay attention. If you value honesty, craftsmanship, respect, customer trust, and a healthy work‑life balance, we would love to hear from you.

About Taylor Automotive

Taylor Automotive is a small, busy, independent repair shop in Hood River, Oregon. We primarily service American and Japanese vehicles, and we have built our reputation on quality work, honest communication, and treating people well.

We are not a high‑pressure, corner‑cutting shop. We believe in repairing vehicles correctly, communicating clearly, supporting each other, and building long‑term trust with our customers and our team.

About the Position

This role is a key connection point between customers, technicians, parts suppliers, and management.

Depending on experience and fit, this position may include service writing, customer service, scheduling, estimating, parts coordination, workflow management, customer communication, and general front‑office support.

The right person does not need to know everything on day one. But they do need to be organized, dependable, calm under pressure, honest with customers, respectful with coworkers, and willing to learn.

Who Fits Here

The right person for Taylor Automotive is someone who:

  • Communicates clearly and respectfully.
  • Enjoys helping customers.
  • Stays calm when things get busy.
  • Tells the truth, even when it is uncomfortable.
  • Owns mistakes and learns from them.
  • Can stay organized while managing multiple priorities.
  • Supports technicians without creating unnecessary pressure.
  • Treats customers and coworkers with respect.
  • Pays attention to details.
  • Wants to keep learning and improving.
  • Understands that character matters as much as capability.

You do not have to know everything. Nobody does. But you do need to care, be honest, be dependable, and want to get better.

What Sets Us Apart Customers Are Friends
  • We do not see customers as transactions. We build lasting relationships and take pride in helping people make good decisions about their vehicles with honesty and respect.
Work-Life Balance
  • We believe people do better work when they have a life outside of work. We offer paid vacation, holidays off, no weekends, and no nights.
Health and Wellness Benefits
  • We offer health, dental, and vision insurance options, along with a free monthly massage to help keep our team feeling their best.
Long-Term Support
  • We want Taylor Automotive to be a place where the right people can build a stable future. We offer a Simple IRA with company match to help support long‑term financial wellness.
Respectful Team Culture
  • We value open communication, teamwork, humility, and mutual respect. Your input matters here.
Doing the Right Thing
  • Integrity matters more than short‑term profit. We do not sell work that is not needed, we do not mislead customers, and we do not use pressure‑based sales tactics. We believe customers should understand what their vehicle needs, why it matters, and what can wait.
Responsibilities May Include
  • Greeting customers and building strong relationships.
  • Answering phones and responding to customer questions.
  • Scheduling appointments.
  • Gathering accurate customer concerns and vehicle information.
  • Writing repair orders clearly.
  • Communicating with technicians about inspections, diagnostics, and repair status.
  • Building estimates based on technician findings.
  • Prioritizing recommendations honestly and clearly.
  • Ordering and coordinating parts.
  • Updating customers throughout the day.
  • Explaining estimates and repair recommendations.
  • Documenting approvals and declined…
