About the role
We are looking for a highly autonomous finance professional to serve as a trusted subject‑matter expert in Warner Music Group’s Global Business Services (GBS) US Participations team. The role focuses on financial controllership, analysis, and stakeholder partnership for U.S. record labels and artist services.
Responsibilities- Run the preparation and analysis of participation profit‑share and distribution financial statements, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and accounting standards.
- Lead fiscal month‑end close tasks, including complex true‑ups, reconciliations, and expense accruals, and link statement reporting with general ledger accuracy.
- Act as the primary “variance detective” and quality gatekeeper, interrogating data fluctuations and providing clear narratives for management.
- Translate complex artist and label agreements into functional financial models and apply them to large‑scale data sets.
- Compile and analyze transactional data to support statement reporting, budgets, cash forecasts, and audit responses.
- Investigate artist inquiries, data issues or audit claims, proactively mitigating financial risk and suggesting resolutions.
- Guide analysts, provide feedback, facilitate training sessions, and promote process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with label finance, legal teams, senior executives, and other stakeholders.
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance (or related field) with 3–5 years of experience in a complex financial capacity.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, comfortable with large, disparate data sets and complex calculations.
- Strong grasp of financial accounting principles and their application to P&L statements
, reconciliations, fiscal close processes, and internal controls. - High analytical autonomy, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to own work, work under pressure, and deliver accurate outputs.
- Excellent communicator, able to distill complex financial information into clear, actionable insights and mentor peers.
- Experience in music, media, or entertainment, especially in participations, royalties, or audit – a plus.
- Knowledge of SAP S4 Hana, SAP Analysis for Office, BI, and SharePoint – a plus.
- Track record in a fully remote shared‑services environment – a plus.
Salary range: $80,000 to $90,000 annually.
