About the Position
Position SummaryThe Deputy Treasurer is an integral member of the Wallowa County Treasurer’s Office and plays a vital role in protecting and managing the County’s financial resources. This position assists with a variety of accounting, banking, cash management, and customer service functions while ensuring the accurate and efficient administration of public funds.
Working under the direction of the County Treasurer, the Deputy Treasurer provides professional financial support to County departments, elected officials, and the public through accurate recordkeeping, financial reporting, account reconciliation, property tax administration, and daily treasury operations. This position requires integrity, attention to detail, excellent customer service, and a commitment to responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources.
Essential Duties- Prepares and analyzes periodic county financial reports including bank statement reconciliations, etc.
- Oversees day-to-day accounting functions including preparation of journal entries and review of transactions prepared by staff.
- Identifies and reports problem areas in county fiscal condition; recommends solutions.
- Use computerized accounting software and/or other applications to prepare special financial reports as needed.
- Coordinates the County’s Vital Records Program.
- Prepare billings and receive payments for Wallowa Lake County Service District’s water and sewer services and Wallowa County Solid Waste Department.
- Serve as acting Wallowa County Tax Collector and Treasurer in absence of the Wallowa County Tax Collector and Treasurer.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Work ScheduleMonday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm (37.50 Hours per week)
Working ConditionsTypical working conditions may include:
- Working in a professional office environment using computers and standard office equipment.
- Frequent interaction with the public, elected officials, coworkers, and outside agencies.
- Maintaining confidentiality while handling sensitive information.
- Sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting as required by the position.
- Occasional travel for training.
- Working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Meeting deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
- Compliance with County policies, safety procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations.
