Overview

Home Forward is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our Finance & Accounting department. The Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in managing and administering Home Forward’s payroll. Responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks related to payroll processing, including analyzing payroll processes to ensure the accuracy of and adherence to agency benefits and pay policies and practices, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.

In this context, the Payroll Specialist will collaborate with others at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders in the consideration of significant goals, concepts, initiatives, and other activities that profoundly affect Home Forward, its employees, and the people that it serves.

Responsibilities
  • Manage, coordinate, and oversee payroll processing and reporting functions; analyze payroll to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance with pay policies and practices, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Oversee Home Forward’s timekeeping system; review system inputs for accuracy; upload information into external web-based payroll system; audit payroll submissions for accuracy; make any necessary adjustments and ensure the timely transmittal of payroll data to vendor and pay to employees.
  • Establish and maintain payroll system in collaboration with the HRIS system and the HR department; design, prepare, and distribute reports accessing information from databases. Work closely with Finance and Accounting, IT, and management to answer, address, and correct payroll reporting-related questions. Provide timely and accurate processing of changes to all required databases; assist in the set-up of new database elements.
  • Research, analyze, interpret, and communicate with employees regarding payroll
    -related issues in accordance with Home Forward policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and state and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Work with labor union agents and business office staff to assure the accurate and timely distribution of payments to Home Forward labor partners; remit union dues payments; reconcile, code, and distribute union health and welfare payments.
  • Participate in ongoing professional and personal learning in support of Home Forward’s anti-racist efforts.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications &

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Seven years of increasingly responsible experience in the development and delivery of comprehensive payroll and benefit administration services. Two years post-secondary education in accounting, business administration, human resources, or a related field preferred. A related degree may substitute for work experience requirement.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred.
  • Experience with ADP preferred.
