Payroll Specialist Overview
A well‑established construction company is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage high‑volume, multi‑state payroll in a fast‑paced, field‑driven environment. This role is ideal for someone who is detail‑oriented, dependable, and confident navigating the unique demands of construction payroll—where accuracy, compliance, and timing are everything.
Key Responsibilities- Process weekly or biweekly payroll for field and office employees.
- Handle certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements.
- Maintain accurate employee records including new hires, terminations, pay changes, and job classifications.
- Verify timecards, job codes, and hours submitted from the field.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Process deductions (benefits, garnishments, union dues if applicable).
- Respond to payroll-related questions from employees, supervisors, and project managers.
- Support audits and assist with reporting as needed.
- Payroll experience in the construction industry strongly preferred.
- Understanding of prevailing wage
- Experience with job costing or labor allocation across multiple job sites.
