Job Overview
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. This trainee position is part of our Work Based Learning Program (WBLP) in Oregon and involves a 12‑month work and training program.
Key Responsibilities- Performing server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, troubleshooting network issues, and responding to operational incidents that impact service availability, escalating to senior technicians and management as needed/required
- Serving as a contact point for both internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors
- Performing on‑call duties and participating in scheduled maintenance and change management activities
- Contributing to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues
- Successfully completing the 12‑month Work Based Learning Program training curriculum, including all required safety certifications, technical competencies, and performance milestones
- Take ownership of technical issues brought by the customer base, engaging other teams when needed to drive resolution
- Solve problems at their root and step back to understand the broader context
- Maintain service level agreements through the implementation of proactive issue detection and reporting
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds
- Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with participation in primary responder rotation and after‑hours support as needed
- Working in cramped, elevated, and/or noisy environments
- Bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day
- Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation
- Tolerance for working in non‑climate‑controlled environments with temperature fluctuations
- High school or equivalent diploma
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Willingness to participate in shift rotations to support 24/7 data center operations
- Knowledge of computer hardware components and operating systems
- Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
- Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system and coordination with a manager
- STEM classes or vocational course curriculum education
