Application Coordinator
The mission of the Health System Operations Department is to optimize the use of the system across the region in order to achieve high priority goals in clinical care and business outcomes. The department does this through meticulous attention to user needs, partnerships with national and Epic Systems, collaboration with regional IT, and application of medical systems to meet problem‑oriented and opportunity‑driven objectives.
EssentialFunctions
- Provide operational and information systems expertise in the development, training, testing, optimization, and application of Health System business and clinical systems to meet problem‑oriented and opportunity‑driven objectives.
- Act as subject‑matter expert for a single Epic application and provide system information to regional leadership, clinicians, staff, brokers, employers, professional organizations, and vendors.
- Resolve production problems in a single system module.
- Collaborate with work teams, departments, regional leadership, clinicians, staff, and IT to define needs, facilitate agreements, and support decision‑making.
- Communicate changes to end users and participate in post‑implementation reviews.
- Assess customer needs, research options, design, test, and implement application solutions.
- Help configure new features or modules for integration with installed Epic applications.
- Participate and support relevant workflow sessions and manage resulting workflow changes.
- Perform configuration activities in the Epic system to resolve problems escalated to the Health System Operations department.
- Set up and test configuration modifications and enhancements.
- Build, maintain, and update application master files and category lists to ensure data integrity and maintain synchronization with weekly collaborative updates.
- Participate in on‑call rotation for 24x7 support.
- Resolve production incident support and patient safety issues during stressful outage situations.
- Sustain efficient current and future functionality by supporting new version upgrades, optimizing current functionality, and incorporating new modules into Health System business and clinical systems.
- Test system changes, review training materials, assess workflow impact and solutions, and support deployments.
- Support development of test scripts, validate test data, analyze test results, resolve defects, and identify problem fixes.
- Review, analyze, and recommend implementation of release notes received from Epic Systems.
- Analyze change requests for impact and cost.
- Communicate changes to business partners and assist with implementation of change.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in health‑care administration, information systems, business, a health‑care profession, library science, or information resource management.
- Epic Certification required (may be obtained on the job within 6 months of hire date).
- Professional RN licensure.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams through influence and collaboration.
- Working knowledge of computer applications in business settings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Efficiency, collaboration, candor, openness, and results orientation.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience.
- At least 3 years of experience using one of the Epic suite of application products or completion of Epic certification in an application.
- Advanced degree in medical informatics, computer science, or a related health‑care field.
- Direct experience implementing business information systems in the Northwest region.
- Knowledge of functional areas and/or systems analysis.
- Knowledge of research and analysis/design.
- Experience leading large multidisciplinary projects to successful completion.
- Conflict‑resolution skills.
- Public speaking skills.
- Experience with office software such as Power Point, Excel, Word, and/or MS Project and Visio.
