We are currently seeking an experienced Buyer to join our team in Clackamas, OR
.

About the Role:The Buyer manages assigned commodities establishing and maintaining the supplier relationship. The employee will be responsible for cost containment and reduction, assisting with new product introductions and related project support, sourcing new suppliers, and continuous development of existing suppliers for each assigned commodity.
What You’ll Do:- Manages suppliers for assigned commodities by negotiating price, delivery, quality and service levels with vendors
- Understands supplier reviews/evaluations for quality, on-time delivery, and cost competitiveness
- Resolves supplier performance issues that negatively impact Cornell's ability to fill customer orders (i.e.: nonconforming material returns and replacement, late delivery, cost increase, etc.)
- Initiates RFP's and RFQ's from the simple to the complex
- Responsible for procuring proper materials in the appropriate quantities from qualified suppliers utilizing the MRP system
- Pursue cost reductions and/or profit improvement through cooperative efforts with supply base.
- Maintains inventory control by managing inventory levels of assigned commodities along with identifying and disposing of excess and inactive inventory.
- Generates/processes ECN's and NCR’s when appropriate
Follows ISO procedures in support of continuous process improvement - Ability to travel as required.
- PC literate with experience utilizing Microsoft software office programs - (MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point).

What You Should Bring:- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); ERP experience preferred

- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
This role is primarily based in an office or professional setting, with regular interaction and collaboration across teams. Depending on the role and location, there may be occasional visits to operational or facility areas, where all site policies and safety requirements must be followed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use
Ability to occasionally move throughout office and manufacturing environments
EDUCATION and/orEXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma /GED with 3 years related experience or Associate’s degree with minimum 2 years related experience.
- Prior utilization of MRP software for the fulfillment of ongoing production requirements.
- Familiarity with part qualification, first article acceptance and production readiness required.
ISM or APIC certification preferred but not required.
