Senior Living Maintenance Assistant – Merrill Gardens, Cedar Mill, OR

We are seeking a compassionate, honest, and dedicated individual to support our residents’ well‑being through exceptional maintenance services to ensure a dignified living environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform general maintenance projects as scheduled or assigned, including installation and repair of plumbing, electrical equipment, fire & sprinkler systems, HVAC, landscaping, carpentry, painting, and equipment repair.
  • Understand and utilize Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Maintain walls, floor coverings, doors, windows, furniture, and woodwork in common areas.
  • Perform basic prep and painting abilities; paint and clean vacated rooms promptly.
  • Handle all in‑house plumbing (sinks, toilets, bathtubs) and minor electrical work in units and common areas.
  • Paint apartments, common areas, carpet, floor coverings, and furniture.
  • Complete all work orders promptly and note additional work not listed.
  • Document safety issues and physical plan deficiencies per local, county, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and cleaning of community vehicles (buses, cars, vans).
  • Assist training and development of safety procedures and hazard communications.
  • Respond immediately and appropriately to all accidents and emergencies following protocol.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Regional Maintenance Supervisor, or General Manager.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (must be at least 18 years of age).
  • 1‑3 years related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building maintenance, electrical, mechanical, painting, plumbing, floor care, heating, and HVAC skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of fire suppression & irrigation systems.
  • Prefer motor vehicle maintenance ability.
  • Flexible and able to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 90 lbs), push/pull.

This role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 90 lbs), pushing/pulling, and other physical activities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
