Job Description:

Correctional Lieutenant, Job Rotation (WOC) or Developmental ( Lakeview) Warner Creek Correctional Facility – Lakeview OR, Oregon Department of Corrections

This position is available for current regular status employees of the Oregon Department of Corrections, Oregon Corrections Enterprises, or Oregon Board of Parole, Probation, and Post-Prison Supervision. This position is a job rotation anticipated to last 6 months, though may be extended or decreased due to business need. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and selected will receive Work Out of Class Differential.

Candidates who do not meet the minimum qualifications for this classification may be considered as a developmental. Developmental candidates are not eligible for Work Out of Class Differential.

About the Job – Your Role As a (WOC) or Developmental Correctional Lieutenant

As a (WOC) or Developmental Correctional Lieutenant, you will fill a role as a senior security staff member responsible for overseeing custody, control, supervision, and daily care of adults in custody while upholding the mission of the Department. Lieutenants supervise an entire shift of Security staff, assigning staff as institution-needs dictate, providing direction and instruction, makes operational decisions impacting the facility and maintains security at all times by ensuring staff follow and enforce established Department of Corrections Rules and Procedures, Institutional Procedures, Post Orders, and Administrative Directives.

In this role, you will develop and learn the key responsibilities involved in the institution’s leadership team roll and will expected to uphold the DOC Leadership Philosophy:

This position is management services and may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Eligibility Requirements:

The candidate is not on any active disciplinary actions or corrective measures. The candidate is current on all required training courses and certifications. The candidate is a regular status employee and has completed probationary period in the candidate’s current role. Candidate has received current supervisor approval.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Three years of experience in a correctional security setting where primary duties were the care and custody of inmates.
  • One year of which must have been at the level of a Sergeant in a correctional system.
  • Have or be able to obtain, within two weeks, an Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Correctional Certificate OR a Correctional Certificate from another government agency;
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED certificate;
  • Be 21 years of age or older;
  • United States Citizen.
  • To be considered for Work out of Class Differential you must meet Minimum Qualifications listed above.
  • Education will not be accepted as a substitute for the required experience.
Special Qualifications

Ability to obtain a valid Oregon motor vehicle operator's license. Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.
