Maintenance Technician (NIGHTS)

About this roleThe Maintenance Technician/Electrician will troubleshoot and repair dairy processing plant equipment, packaging equipment, and supporting utility systems and equipment. The role focuses on maintaining production machinery, ensuring safety compliance, and performing scheduled and emergency maintenance.
Day in the life- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs during machine service.
- Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs.
- Use mechanic skills including packaging mechanical, refrigeration, PLC/process controls, dairy systems, electrical, welding/fabrication, and general maintenance.
- Read and interpret drawings, equipment manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments using hand and power tools, electrical meters, and material handling equipment.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, and the general public.
- Communicate effectively and act as a team player interacting with staff at all levels.
- Work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrate excellent time‑management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
Skills and Abilities
- High school diploma or GED and 1 to 3 years related experience.
- Associate degree or trade school certification preferred.
- LME Preferred.
- Five years of demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair packaging equipment and general manufacturing plant equipment preferred.
- General plant mechanical maintenance required.
- Allen Bradley PLC programming, Allen Bradley Panel View, Device Net, Control Net, and strong electrical and instrumental background.
- Experience with dairy plant systems, sanitary welding/fabrication, PLCs/computers, ammonia refrigeration (RETA certification), and/or utilities is a plus.
