Position Summary
The Cannabis Extraction Technician Manager is responsible for leading and managing cannabis extraction and processing operations within a licensed extraction facility. This role requires strong technical extraction knowledge, a high level of safety awareness, strong leadership ability, and hands‑on experience with extraction equipment and post‑processing methods. Operating within Oregon’s regulatory framework, the Extraction Technician Manager ensures consistent, high‑quality product output while maintaining strict compliance with OLCC regulations, METRC requirements, and internal SOPs.
Key Responsibilities Extraction and Processing Operations- Manage daily extraction and processing operations in accordance with SOPs and production schedules
- Operate and oversee extraction and processing equipment, including hydrocarbon systems (Luna Tech) and wiped film distillation units
- Oversee solventless production processes, including rosin manufacturing (pressing, curing, handling, and workflow management)
- Monitor and adjust process parameters to optimize yield, consistency, and product quality
- Prepare, stage, and handle raw materials and in‑process products for extraction and post‑processing
- Ensure smooth production handoff between preparation, extraction, post‑processing, and packaging teams
- Support scaling initiatives, workflow efficiencies, and production output improvements
- Ensure intermediate and finished products meet quality standards for consistency, cleanliness, potency goals, and appearance
- Review and confirm accurate labeling, batch tracking, and material movement
- Identify and address abnormalities such as contamination risks, odor issues, color variation, and yield discrepancies
- Communicate quality concerns immediately and support corrective actions
- Ensure all extraction activities comply with OLCC regulations, internal SOPs, sanitation standards, safety requirements, and security protocols
- Oversee accurate batch data entry in METRC and/or internal tracking systems (inputs, outputs, waste, process logs, batch IDs)
- Maintain strict chain‑of‑custody and inventory controls for all materials and finished products
- Ensure extraction areas remain audit‑ready at all times
- Ensure daily cleaning and sanitation of extraction equipment and work spaces
- Lead routine equipment inspections, safety checks, and preventative maintenance practices
- Report and elevate malfunctions, safety issues, or repair needs to Maintenance and Leadership
- Support calibration and upkeep of equipment, gauges, and tools
- Enforce PPE compliance and safe chemical/material handling practices across the team
- Supervise and support extraction technicians and post‑processing staff as assigned
- Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure team growth and compliance
- Coordinate with packaging, inventory, and operations leadership to maintain production flow
- Assist with R&D initiatives, new product development, and process improvement projects
- Promote a culture of accountability, safety, efficiency, and quality
- Must be 21+ and able to obtain and maintain an active OLCC Marijuana Worker Permit
- 2+ years of experience in cannabis extraction, processing, or manufacturing environments
- Hands‑on experience operating: wiped film distillation unit, Luna Tech hydrocarbon extraction machine, and rosin/solventless production processes
- Strong understanding of cannabis extraction fundamentals, production workflows, and safety standards
- Ability to lift 40+ pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in variable temperature environments
- Strong documentation skills and ability to follow/implement SOPs
- Prior experience in a licensed Oregon cannabis extraction facility
- Strong working knowledge of METRC or other seed‑to‑sale tracking systems
- Experience with post‑processing techniques and scaling production output
- Prior leadership experience managing a production or extraction team
- Experience supporting R&D and continuous improvement initiatives
- Exposure to loud machinery, heat, cold, and repetitive manual tasks
- Daily handling of cannabis plant material, concentrates, and finished products
- PPE required, including gloves, protective eyewear, hairnets, and other site‑specific equipment
