To maintain accurate inventory of parts arriving and being held in shipping area and coordinate workloads of shipping area personnel; to coordinate shipments by using in-process lot status reports and customer shipping schedules; to assure completed shipments to customers in a timely manner.
Principal AccountabilitiesObjective: to maintain accurate inventory of all parts in shipping area.
- A. Maintains computerized inventory of all parts in shipping area.
- B. Logs all outgoing shipments in inventory system.
- C. Initiates paperwork to remove parts from inventory to stock crib.
- D. Calculates and reports daily in and shipped dollar figures.
- E. Makes adjustments to computerized inventory system as needed to assure accurate inventory status.
- F. May be required to handle hazardous waste.
Objective: to accurately schedule and coordinate shipments in a timely manner.
- A. Schedules shipping area clerical, marking and packing activities; assures effective workload of personnel, including end-of-month workload scheduling.
- B. Orders inspection certification paperwork; assures that proper paperwork remains with parts.
- C. Applies castings in inventory to scheduled and blanket customer purchase orders.
- E. Routes all shipments, including air, truck, prepaid and collect routing, per standard instructions and customer specifications; maintains routing log book.
- F. Communicates daily with planning, engineering, operations and freight carriers to assure efficient, timely shipments.
- G. Orders supplies for shipping area, including pallets, packing materials and office supplies.
- H. Schedules shipments to vendors for outside processing.
Objective: to schedule parts through machine facilities and supply supervisor with production forecast needs.
- A. Schedules machines daily for each shift based on required shipping dates; interfaces with planning and engineering departments.
- B. Identifies potential capacity problems for supervisor.
- C. Works with supervisor to identify hours, by part number, to be scheduled for outside sources.
- D. Provides Tool Crib supervisor with production schedule by part number.
- E. Provides supervisor with development parts list and new programs; coordinates fixture requirements for new production programs; works with supervisor to forecast short and long-term staffing, machine and space requirements.
Objective:
To take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.
- A. Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
- B. Safely operates all equipment and tools.
- C. Identifies and reports safety problems.
Performs other tasks as directed.
Training- 1. Training is provided on the job.
- 2. May be required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training.
- 1. Previous shipping department experience required, with manufacturing shipping experience preferred.
- 2. Working knowledge of shipping functions.
- 3. Basic knowledge of inventory systems, preferably computerized systems.
- 4. Ability to read and follow instructions and shipping/postal regulations.
- 5. Ability to organize workloads efficiently and to attend to details.
- 6. Ability to coordinate a variety of activities, including the work of others.
- 7. Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes and other elements for extended periods of time.
