Job Summary

Sanitation Technician will be responsible for meeting and maintaining the food safety standards for Mission Produce Distribution Center. The Sanitation Technician will be responsible for the sanitizing procedures for food contact and nonfood contact surfaces.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Understand and apply appropriate sanitation responsibilities per Mission Produce Food Safety Standards.
  • Keep buildings, grounds, and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning floors, drains, coolers, ripe rooms, shipping/receiving docks, and other facility structures.
  • Utilize and maintain sanitation tools such as brooms, extension rods, scrubber machines, scrapers, mops, squeegees, foaming machines, compressed air, and any applicable tools needed.
  • Document and maintain sanitation logs in a timely manner.
  • Read and understand chemical labels, follow guidelines or SOP to safely use chemicals as intended.
  • Communicate issues/conflicts to supervisors and participate in weekly crossover meetings with the corporate Food Safety Team.
  • Willingness and ability to operate heavy machinery including pallet jacks, forklifts, scissor lifts and boom lifts.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
  • High School Diploma or 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability and willingness to be flexible with hours.
  • Ability and willingness to operate heavy machinery such as a scissor lift, forklift, and boom lift.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office (Preferred).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (Preferred).
  • Forklift/Scissor Lift experience (Preferred).
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work in a wet & temperature-controlled environment from 34°F – 42°F.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Safely work near moving mechanical parts and equipment.
  • Ability to reach and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability and willingness to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch/bend as needed to perform essential tasks.
