Opportunity

Mission

Responsible for the safe manufacture of company products across a variety of manufacturing processes, ensuring all quality and productivity requirements are met in the most cost‑effective manner. May supervise multiple functions and/or shifts through shift/department leads. Production Supervisor positions involve a lesser span of control and/or level of demonstrated expertise than an Area Manager.

Span of Control

Responsible for an average to less than average number of production employees, number of manufacturing machines, and/or value of manufacturing equipment, compared to the span of control of an Area Manager.

Manufacturing Expertise

Fundamental knowledge of and ability to apply PCC budgeting and financial management tools, PCC planning processes, PCC manufacturing processes, and concepts such as lean, TOC, interference management, and NEI within the area of responsibility.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Ensure the safe manufacture of products and maintain a safe, injury‑free work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company safety policies.
  • Train employees in safety procedures and promote good housekeeping practices.
  • Maintain effective employee relations; provide coaching, development, and problem resolution.
  • Adhere to process control procedures, operating instructions, and quality control instructions.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise shift operations in accordance with production schedules and requirements in the most cost‑effective manner.
  • Monitor throughput and target‑earned hours to meet or exceed budget criteria.
  • Conduct formal performance appraisals and recommend pay increases, transfers, and promotions in accordance with company policy and state/federal laws.
  • Interview, recommend, and hire employees.
  • Develop, train, and involve employees in improving departmental efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, cooperation, and morale.
  • Maintain adequate staffing to meet required production schedules.
  • Assist with and provide input for the annual budget for areas of responsibility; adhere to budget plans and meet monthly budgets.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma plus college‑level courses or equivalent training in manufacturing, accounting, mathematics, and statistics, or equivalent experience;
    Bachelor’s in Engineering or Business preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and adapt to changing situations.
  • Organized, self‑motivated individual capable of working independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and achieve results through others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate, particularly in spreadsheets, financial, inventory, and production planning and tracking applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, execute, and deliver results in conformance with action plans.
  • Completion and ability to apply information from hazardous waste training required due to potential coordination of hazardous waste handling in areas of responsibility.
