Heart of Oregon Youth Build is a nonprofit organization serving opportunity youth by providing hands‑on job training, education, leadership development, and conservation‑based work experiences. Through Youth Build and related programs, participants earn credentials, build job skills, and gain real‑world experience while contributing to community improvement projects across Central Oregon. Candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills, with an interest in marketing, communications, nonprofit work, or youth development.
The ideal applicant is organized, creative, and able to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail. Experience with social media platforms, content creation, basic data tracking, and tools such as Microsoft Office or Google Workspace is helpful but not required. Candidates should be comfortable gathering stories, analyzing engagement data, and developing clear, accessible messaging for diverse audiences.
Strong interpersonal skills are important for collaborating with staff, partners, and program participants. A commitment to community service, storytelling, and supporting opportunity youth is essential. This role is well‑suited for individuals interested in communications, public relations, nonprofit management, or community engagement careers.
The VISTA member will strengthen Heart of Oregon Youth Build’s communications and alumni engagement capacity by developing systems, content and tools that expand outreach and organizational impact.
