The Rogue Retreat Ameri Corps volunteers provide meaningful service that addresses critical community needs across Southern Oregon. These programs improve access to social services by reducing barriers to education, mentoring, job skills development, employment resources, family stability, and healthy futures. Volunteers spend 85% of their time serving in dedicated projects and 15% participating in civic engagement and professional development opportunities with their Ameri Corps cohort.
Through their service, they also help recruit, retain, and support community volunteers at their host sites.
The Volunteer Assistant will play a key role in building volunteer capacity to support essential programming, including job coaching, life skills development, gardening education, and meal service within shelter settings. This position will help strengthen overall shelter operations by engaging volunteers in meaningful and impactful roles. The Volunteer Assistant will be responsible for developing partnerships with local agencies and businesses, fostering relationships that promote volunteerism, and supporting the growth and expansion of existing programs.
In addition, the Volunteer Assistant will attend Peer Support Specialist and Addiction Recovery training and may pursue certification through the State of Oregon to further enhance their ability to support participants and volunteers.
