Ad Hoc Public Art Committee (Vacancy)

The Village Board is seeking applications to fill a vacancy on the Ad Hoc Public Art Committee.

The Ad Hoc Public Art Committee shall consist of seven members appointed by the Village President, subject to confirmation by the Village Board. One member shall be a Village Board member. Due consideration shall be given to ensuring membership is comprised of artists, art professionals, design professionals, architects, and other relevant experts. All members shall be residents of the village. A majority of the members of the committee, excluding any vacant positions, shall constitute a quorum, except that a quorum may not consist of less than three members.

Committee members shall hold office until the committee is dissolved effective December 31, 2026.

Vacancies shall be filled by appointment of the Village President, subject to confirmation by the Village Board.

The committee shall select from its members a chair, vice chair, and secretary. The chair, or vice chair in the chair’s absence, shall preside at all meetings of the committee. The secretary shall keep true and accurate records of the proceedings of the committee.

No member shall receive any compensation for their service on the committee.

The committee shall develop and recommend a public art program to establish goals and procedures to guide the promotion, selection, acquisition, and maintenance of public art; and to overall provide for the enrichment of the public environment for residents and visitors through the incorporation of public art. The program shall include mechanisms for public and other stakeholder involvement. The committee shall have the responsibility of implementing the adopted public art program and advancing its goals and objectives.

The committee shall serve as an advisory body to the village board. All decisions of the committee shall be considered recommendations to the village board or other relevant village bodies. The village board may refer other matters to the committee during its existence for its consideration, report, and / or recommendation.
