Job Summary
Under general supervision and in collaboration with other members of the health care team, uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, directing, providing and evaluating nursing care for patients and coordinating nursing care activities with other health care disciplines.
Essential Responsibilities- Assessment: Performs accurate multi-system assessments (biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, education needs and discharge planning). Identifies deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests. Reassesses patient throughout hospitalization. Performs complete discharge assessment.
- Planning: Develops an individual nursing plan of care sensitive to the patient s developmental needs. Coordinates patient care activities and discharge planning with hospital/clinic departments and community agencies. Develops patient teaching plan and documents on the care plan or teaching plan. Delegates patient care activities based on patient condition and scope of practice of other health care providers. Establishes priorities for patient care.
Classifies acuity level of assigned patients. - Implementation: Initiates appropriate measures based on protocol for management of medical and/or surgical patients. Documents care according to policy and procedure and accurately documents in the EMR. Uses a multidisciplinary approach when appropriate. Performs all necessary procedures correctly and initiates appropriate measures in emergency situations. Utilizes available teaching plans addressing patient teaching needs and accurately calculates and administers medications.
- Evaluation: Evaluates assessment methods, plan of care, and patient response to treatment. Participates in unit quality assurance activities.
- Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience.
- Minimum one (1) year CVL experience OR two (2) years of full-time critical care experience in a high-volume setting (e.g., CVICU, Neuro/Trauma ICU) within the last two (2) years.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Basic Life Support required at hire.
- Critical Care Registered Nurse Certificate within 12 months of hire OR American Nurses Credentialing Center Certificate - Cardiac Vascular Nursing within 12 months of hire OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Certificate within 12 months of hire OR Radiology Nurse Certificate within 12 months of hire.
- Registered Nurse License (Oregon).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
- Computer keyboarding skills.
- Procedural sedation experience.
- Previous health care experience.
- Bachelor s degree in nursing or related field.
- Minimum two (2) years of CVL experience OR three (3) years of full-time critical care experience in a high-volume setting (e.g., CVICU, Neuro/Trauma ICU) and certification in either CCRN, CRN, CVN, or RCIS at hire.
- Fair Share Call.
