Employment TypePer Diem / On‑Call; up to 20 hours per week.
LocationFloat between our OR locations (Clackamas, Tigard, Rose Quarter).
Salary$41.17 – $69.36 per hour (final offer based on experience and qualifications).
Job ScopeUnder general supervision, provide professional nursing care for oncology patients following established standards and practices. Demonstrate knowledge of age‑specific differences in the patient population. Support the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities- Assist physician with exams and procedures.
- Maintain efficient patient flow in and out of exam rooms.
- Assess patients for changes in condition, including abnormal labs, radiology, drug reactions, and initiate appropriate action.
- Facilitate dose modification by assessing labs, consulting protocols, calculating dose, and consulting physician.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheter devices.
- Administer all medications/blood products with correct dosage, route, timing and technique.
- Document nursing assessments, patient teaching, fluid and medication administration in the chart.
- Communicate all pertinent information and interventions to physician.
- Ensure nursing charges are accurate on patient fee slips.
- Act as a resource for medical assistants.
- Triage patient phone calls and document relevant information.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional materials.
- Demonstrate awareness of community resources and assist with referrals.
- Manage patient medication refill requests from pharmacy and record information.
- Provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.
- Follow OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste, or materials potentially infected with a blood‑borne pathogen.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in cross‑training programs to develop skills across multiple areas of the practice and provide support where needed.
- Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program; BSN preferred.
- Dual licensure in Oregon (OR) and Washington (WA) obtained within 6 months of start date.
- Chemotherapy Immunotherapy provider card preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Maintain continuing education requirements.
- Minimum 1‑3 years of nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology (preferred).
