About This Role

The RN in the Emergency Department provides comprehensive nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in collaboration with the healthcare team. This role is ideal for experienced nurses looking to work in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do
  • Perform accurate multi-system assessments and identify deviations from normal on routine lab tests.
  • Develop individual nursing plans of care sensitive to patient developmental needs.
  • Coordinate patient care activities and discharge planning with other departments and agencies.
  • Initiate appropriate measures based on protocols for medical and surgical patients.
  • Document care accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Evaluate assessment methods, plan of care, and patient responses to treatment.
  • Participate in unit quality assurance activities.
  • Administer medications accurately and initiate measures in emergency situations.
Requirements

Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Experience:
  • Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience
  • One (1) year of current ED experience or completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program in the ED
Licenses &

Certifications:
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Oregon
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course or Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire
