Established in 2017, Moon River Farm is a small, certified organic vegetable farm in Nehalem, OR. Each year we grow over 50 different vegetables, from May through February. Our produce is available through our weekly CSA/farm stand, the Manzanita Farmers Market, and at select local restaurants.
Job DescriptionHarvest Crew Lead (1 Full‑time position) – 2026 season. Lead a crew of 3 through harvest, wash, and pack for our weekly CSA/farm stand, restaurant orders, and farmers market. Harvest takes two full days a week during the shoulder season and Monday‑Friday once fruits kick in. Includes field work at least one day a week and up to three days a week.
Season mid‑May to November. More field work in March, April, Oct., and Nov.
- Lead crew of 3 through harvest, wash, and pack.
- Manage daily field work schedule.
- Train crew on high quality, cleanliness, and consistency standards.
- Assist with farmers market booth setup, sales, and customer interactions.
- Assist with planting, bed prep, weeding, fertilizing, trellising, pruning, etc.
- Adjust workflow between shoulder and summer seasons.
- Maintain record keeping and basic mental math.
- Ensure safety and efficient use of sharp knives.
- Participate in weekly CSA share and extra vegetables.
- Participate in equipment loading/unloading.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Developed time and people management skills.
- Balance attention to detail with speed and efficiency.
- Proficient in basic mental math.
- Experience with all primary tasks associated with harvest and post‑harvest.
- At least one (ideally two) full seasons on a commercial vegetable farm.
- Experience managing people.
- Comfortable working 8‑9 hour shifts with 30‑45 minute lunch break.
- Availability 4‑5 days a week, Monday‑Thursday or Monday‑Friday (32‑40 hrs).
- Strong record keeping and ability to self‑manage schedule.
- Field/harvest days: 8:00‑16:00 or 17:00 (season/weather may shift).
- CSA/Farmstand/Delivery: 11:30‑19:00.
- Market day: 13:00‑20:30.
- Rolling start date: mid March to mid April.
- End date: late November.
- Full season commitment required.
- Hourly wage: $20.00 initially with possible raise after training.
- Pay varies by experience for farm crew positions ($16‑17/hr DOE).
- Weekly CSA share.
- Extra vegetables when available.
- $150 gear stipend after training completed.
- Shift length: 8‑9 hours including lunch break.
Seasonal farm crew members are vital to the success of the farm. Duties include harvest, wash, pack, field work, and market duties.
