The QA Project Engineer is responsible for supporting company/client projects by representing quality assurance in the planning, coordination, and execution of assigned project activities. The role serves as a central point of contact between the QA team and other internal and external stakeholders for project‑related quality and process issues. The QA Project Engineer ensures project quality requirements are well understood, documented, and communicated to suppliers as applicable, and works with quality and other personnel to ensure those requirements flow through the project lifecycle.
The position may also lead QA process developments and coordinate cross‑functional project activities.
- Serve as the primary QA interface for cross‑functional project teams and external partners.
- Support and advise on quality and process‑related issues across multiple projects.
- Coordinate and prepare responses to customer RFIs and proposal/marketing activities.
- Develop, maintain, and apply project quality requirements traceability matrices.
- Manage first‑of‑a‑kind project issues and integrate QA activities into project plans.
- Identify, elevate, and resolve quality‑related challenges and project risks.
- Provide direction to QA leads, supervisors, and supporting quality personnel.
- Develop and maintain QA procedures, workflows, and process improvements.
- Support risk assessments, mitigation planning, and project reviews.
- Perform additional project and QA duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
- Minimum 8 years of Quality Assurance experience in the commercial nuclear industry.
- Experience serving as QA lead on large, complex projects.
- Experience developing requirement traceability matrices.
- Strong communication, technical writing, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of ASME BPVC Section III, Division 1.
- ISO 9001 or international QA standard experience strongly preferred.
- Must be eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- ASME NQA‑1
- 10 CFR 50 Appendix B
- 10 CFR 21
- Ability to communicate effectively via phone, computer, and in person.
- Ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply them in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and use standard office equipment.
- Occasional travel required.
