Quality Technician

Salary Range: $21.00 To $31.00 Hourly

The Quality Technician is responsible for supporting the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensuring that products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. This role performs inspections, testing, audits, and quality documentation activities related to die-cutting, laminating, injection molding and other manufacturing processes for our global customers. The Quality Technician works closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to identify and resolve quality issues while promoting continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of raw materials, components, and finished products.
  • Conduct dimensional, visual, and functional inspections using calibrated measuring equipment.
  • Verify product compliance to customer drawings, specifications, control plans, and work instructions.
  • Complete first article inspections (FAI) and production approval activities as required.
  • Perform layered process audits, product audits, and quality system audits.
  • Collect and analyze quality data to identify trends, defects, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support containment activities, sorting operations, and corrective actions related to nonconforming material.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Maintain quality records, inspection reports, SPC data, and other required documentation.
  • Verify calibration status and proper use of inspection and test equipment.
  • Support customer and third‑party audits as needed.
  • Assist with PPAP documentation and automotive quality requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, customer‑specific requirements, and company procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, scrap reduction, and process capability.
  • Communicate quality concerns to supervisors, engineers, and production personnel in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required;
    Associate degree or technical certification preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of quality inspection or quality technician experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
  • Knowledge of quality tools including SPC, control plans, Variation Reduction, FMEAs, and root cause analysis.
    • Experience using metrology equipment such as:
      Calipers, Micrometers, Height gauges, Pin gauges, Vision systems, and CMMs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 and automotive core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
  • Internal Auditor certification or audit experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the manufacturing facility for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent use of measuring instruments and computer equipment.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
