Assistant Food Service Director

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in cooking and serving meals in a restaurant or other commercial setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Washington County Food Handler’s permit or Serv Safe Certification.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 50
  • Must be able to remain on feet for extended periods (up to 4 hours per shift)

The Assistant Food Service Director works directly under and in collaboration with the Food Service Director to support the planning, preparation, and supervision of daily meal service operations. This role assists with coordinating and supporting kitchen staff, overseeing food preparation and service, receiving and organizing food deliveries, and managing inventory to ensure adequate supplies and compliance with safety standards. The Assistant Food Service Director provides leadership and guidance to the kitchen team by setting an example, fostering effective communication, and helping ensure a well-organized, efficient, and positive food service operation.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Prepares meal items under the direction of the Food Service Director.
  • Assumes the role of Food Service Director in their absence.
  • Prepares special diet items as directed by the Dietitian.
  • Stands and walks for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Lifts, carries, pushes, or pulls items.
  • Bends, kneels, reaches, and performs repetitive motions.
  • Applies and enforces sanitation standards.
  • Assists with or oversees the putting away orders and maintaining inventory control.
  • Prepares items for snacks.
  • Attends and participates in pre-camp orientation and training programs.
  • Provides a safe, healthy, and nurturing atmosphere for campers, staff and volunteers.
  • Participate in mid-summer and end of camp evaluation sessions.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all medical information regarding campers and staff.
  • Follows all camp policies, rules and regulations.
  • Signs out with the Camp Director when leaving camp (No Exceptions).
  • Other duties to further the Gales Creek Camp mission and outcomes of Gales Creek Camp, as assigned.
