Sales Engineer

As a Senior Sales Engineer, you will play a pivotal role as the Technical Lead during the Proofpoint Pre-Sales process. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the sales team to devise and implement targeted strategies for penetrating key accounts.
  • Establishing trust and rapport with customers and prospects, acting as their main technical contact throughout the engagement.
  • Delivering engaging product demonstrations addressing contemporary cyber threats.
  • Collaborating with customer and prospect security teams for technical discovery, planning, execution, and concluding Proof-of-Concept (POC) and Production Evaluations.
  • Designing comprehensive People-Centric Security solutions that leverage the full Proofpoint portfolio.
  • Assisting in professional services deployments and technical training while supporting industry seminars and trade shows.
  • Providing insightful feedback and real-world experiences to Product Management, Marketing, and Engineering teams to enhance our solutions.
  • Becoming an expert in Email Security Gateways, Advanced Persistent Threats, Attack Protection, Threat Response, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and the broader threat landscape.
What You Bring to the Team:
  • A minimum of 6 years of hands‑on technical experience in roles such as Sales/Systems Engineer, Technical Account Manager, Security Engineer, or senior‑level product support, ideally within the cybersecurity sector.
  • A proven ability to cultivate and maintain customer relationships through face‑to‑face interactions, preferably within a local territory.
  • Experience working with large enterprises or organizations.
  • A self‑starter attitude with the capability to lead and drive initiatives.
  • A history of managing large‑scale assessments and evaluations, including managing expectations, deliverables, and complex systems alongside supporting teams.
  • Confidence in presenting to both technical teams and C‑suite executives.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise or Cloud Security, encompassing cloud/SaaS platforms, messaging, data, network, endpoint, NOC/SOC, or MSP‑related cybersecurity.
  • Valuable experience in selling and positioning platforms.
  • Exposure to at least two of the following skill sets is highly preferred:
    • Cloud security and shadow IT monitoring.
    • IT security, vulnerability or risk assessments, and policy enforcement.
    • Data Loss Prevention (DLP), compliance, and privacy.
    • Enterprise email solutions like Exchange, G‑Suite, Lotus Domino, or a sound knowledge of SMTP.
  • Additional valued skills include:
    • Knowledge of Directory Services and protocols such as AD, Azure AD, LDAP, and iDP.
    • Experience with email authentication protocols like SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
    • Understanding of networking and protocols including SMTP, DNS, LDAP, HTTP, etc.
    • Familiarity with frameworks such as MITRE and/or NIST.
  • A consultative approach to problem‑solving and a strong desire to transition into a sales‑focused role.
  • Able to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑energy environment.
  • Capable of working independently, adapting quickly, and maintaining a positive demeanor.
  • Strong skills in PowerPoint, presentations, and organizational abilities are essential.
  • Relevant cybersecurity or cloud security certifications, such as CISSP, are appreciated.
  • A Bachelor's or advanced degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for the role.
