Southern Oregon ESD is seeking a Low Voltage Technician Apprentice who is able to perform journeyperson-level skilled electrical work in repair, alteration, construction, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment; and perform related duties as assigned by the Electrical Supervisor. Duties include installation, maintenance, and repair of extended branch circuits, audiovisual equipment, and intercom systems, network cabling, security cameras, and other electrical and limited energy systems and equipment.
The successful candidate would also ensure that electrical work performed at SOESD is in accordance with standard practices of the trade and in compliance with state and local regulations. A variety of shifts are available.

POSITION GOAL
The Limited Energy Technician Apprentice is responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of low-voltage systems and infrastructure. This includes voice/data cabling, surveillance, fire alarm, and security systems, intercom, audio/visual, and other limited energy systems. The technician ensures all work is completed in compliance with Oregon codes and safety regulations and supports a safe learning environment for students and staff.

Duties
Install, maintain, and repair various low-voltage systems, including LAN, PA, CCTV, CATV, intercom, A/V systems, wireless access points, fire and security alarms, fiber, and classroom technologies.Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals to perform skilled installations and repairs in accordance with applicable codes.Conduct diagnostic testing, perform system checks, and troubleshoot limited energy equipment to ensure reliable operation.Collaborate with staff, contractors, and other trades during construction, renovation, or system upgrades to coordinate low-voltage service needs.Estimate time, labor, and materials required for assigned tasks and submit requisitions for materials and equipment.Maintain records of services provided, parts used, and system configurations to ensure accurate documentation.Assist with the evaluation, design, and planning of new systems and infrastructure.Maintain safe working conditions, follow OSHA, OR-OSHA, and district safety guidelines, and promptly report any hazards or incidents.Participate in the training and mentorship of team members or temporary staff as assigned.Attend job-related workshops and in-service trainings to maintain current knowledge of industry practices and code requirements.Operate power tools and mechanical lift equipment safely; maintain and transport necessary tools, materials, and equipment.Assist in obtaining and maintaining permits as needed from regulatory agencies for project compliance.Assist in the training of other personnel in the department.Direct supervision by a licensed LEA journeyman (or supervising electrician with equivalent license) is required.Communicate clearly and appropriately.Participate in professional growth activities.Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with SOESD employees, local education agency representatives, and others contacted during the course of the workday.Follow established SOESD policies and procedures.Perform physical requirements unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.Valid Oregon Driver’s License and safe driving record.Must be enrolled and actively completing coursework related to the LEA licensing program or hold a Valid Oregon Limited Energy-A (LEA) or Limited Energy-B (LEB) license, Oregon Limited Energy Limited Journeyman, or equivalent.Minimum five (5) years of experience in the installation and repair of low-voltage systems.Knowledge of applicable Oregon Building Codes, National Electrical Code, and safety practices.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and perform accurate installations to specification.Skilled in using testing tools, repair equipment, ladders, lifts, and computers.Proficient in the use of productivity software and internet-based research to support field service documentation and solutions.Ability to communicate effectively, follow oral and written instructions, and maintain…
