Job DescriptionElectrician 3 – Lead Electrician. In this role, you’ll perform electrical work, oversee and support lower-level electricians, sign off on completed jobs and secure required permits. You’ll also help plan projects, solve technical challenges and contribute to material selection and team development. This position connects directly with ODOT s mission to provide a safe and efficient transportation system with its daily work on the highway system.
This crew services Washington, Multnomah, Clackamas and Hood River counties.

A Day In The Life- Make informed decisions on the job site, troubleshoot independently, and successfully self-manage tasks using written or oral instructions.
- Lead and support the crew by modeling professional conduct, estimating project scope, planning, assigning and reviewing the work of lower-level employees.
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical equipment that is overhead, on poles up to 110 feet, or underground. Equipment includes:
- Traffic signal hardware.
- Variable message signs.
- Roadway video/camera systems.
- Portable light plants and generators.
- Extensions, modifications and repairs to branch circuits in and around all ODOT facilities.
- Lighting fixtures, including on bridges (LED, HPS, Fluorescent, etc.).
- Drawbridge controls and related circuitry.
- Motor controls for shop equipment, including air compressors, overhead doors, fuel pumps, ventilation, rock crushers, storm water pumps and HVAC.
- Participate in team development and train apprentice electricians.
- Work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions, often near heavy highway traffic.
- Some work on structures of high elevation such as bridges, light towers and buildings.
- Must be available to work any time, 24/7, including holidays and respond to emergencies.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 70 pounds, bending, stooping and sitting in a vehicle for long periods.
- This position requires the ability to distinguish colors.

- Comprehensive base salary within the listed range. Through an equal pay assessment, the salary offer will be determined from your application materials. Ensure your materials detail relevant skills, experience, and education.
- The salary range listed is the non-PERS monthly salary range. If you are a participating PERS member or become eligible, the range increases by 6.95%.

Special QualificationsThis position requires a maximum 45 minute response time to 9200 SE Lawnfield Rd, Clackamas 97015 for emergency call-outs. You must possess a current, valid commercial driver s license B (CDL-B) with no air brake, 5th wheel, or manual transmission restrictions, or have the ability to acquire a class B within 60 days of hire. A valid driver license and acceptable driving record are required.
