Summary
Utility Systems Repairer-Operator performs installation, modification, repair, and maintenance of electrical and piping systems for utility operations within the federal facility.
Responsibilities- Install, modify, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment such as secondary power distribution lines and circuits.
- Install, modify, and repair new and existing high‑pressure piping systems and equipment (steam heating, steam generation, hydraulic systems, steam generators, flash and expansion tanks, condensate, vacuum, circulating pumps, radiators).
- Complete appropriate data entry in automated software systems required for the administration of utility‑related projects.
- Purchase equipment, materials, and supplies for utility‑related work.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Appointment is subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Male applicants must register with the Selective Service Act.
- Must participate in the Direct Deposit Electronic Funds Transfer Program.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle – a valid driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Driving Record are required.
- Uniform required; must comply with National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance is provided.
- Ability to work on‑call, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Occupancy of government quarters is required.
- Must possess and maintain a current Oregon or equivalent Water Treatment/Distribution Operators Certificate Level 1 (or secure such a certificate within six months of the effective date).
- Must possess and maintain a current Wastewater Treatment Operators Certificate Grade 1 (or secure such a certificate within six months of the effective date).
- Eligible applicants who are current or former displaced federal employees under CTAP/ICTAP may be considered if they meet OPM qualification standards and all selective placement factors.
