Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a commuting allowance of $180.00 bi-weekly.

Incumbents in this position install, repair and maintain electrical system components, fixtures and lines and coordinate work assignments. Other duties include overseeing electrical safety; troubleshooting and inspecting work for completeness and compliance with specifications; providing training and monitoring and reporting on work progress.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Schedules, distributes/balances and guides the work assignments of co-workers, according to established workflow/assignment requirements, to assist supervisory staff with timely completion of the assigned work load.
  • Monitors and reports on co-worker work performance to determine overall conformity to established timetables and quality standards, and to document and communicate employee production levels and training needs.
  • Trains co-workers, as directed, in specific tasks, job practices and procedures of electrician’s work to improve and maintain the performance levels of these employees.
  • Drives and operates 26,000 GVW vehicles, such as boom truck, basket truck, and crane.
  • Climbs and works from ladders.
  • Lifts up to 50 pounds.
  • Pulls wire, installs conduit and terminates cables.
  • Performs work above head and below knees.
  • Works in confined spaces, such as manholes and switch cubicles.
  • Digs ditches and trenches.
  • Reads blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Works safely using safety guideline and a variety of safety equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical equipment.
  • Interprets results from multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, meggers and cable locators, etc.
  • Uses various electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic power tools.
  • Assists in snow removal from runway and taxiway signs.
  • Uses airfield radio and procedures.
  • Operates JLG or two-man lifts.
  • Walks to job sites occasionally.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Data Utilization:
    Requires the ability to perform mid-level data analysis including audit, deduction, assessment, conclusion and appraisal. Requires discretion in determining and referencing established criteria to define consequences and develop alternatives.
  • Human Interaction:
    Requires the ability to persuade, convince, influence, train and monitor co-workers in favor of a desired outcome. Requires the ability to act as a lead person.
  • Equipment, Machinery, Tools and Materials Use:
    Requires the ability to operate, calibrate, tune and synchronize, and perform complex rapid adjustment on equipment, machinery and tools such as bucket truck, circuit tester/tracer, multimeter, electrician hand and power tools, common hand tools, compressor, pipe threader, welding equipment, trencher, cable puller, saws, hydraulic lifts, hoist, shop bench tools, jacks, overhead crane, carpenter’s tools, and/or related materials used in performing essential functions.
  • Verbal Aptitude:
    Requires the ability to utilize a variety of reference, descriptive and advisory data and information such as electrical blueprints, architectural drawings, schematics, work orders, work schedules, accident reports, electrical codes, supply inventories, technical operating manuals, materials safety data sheets, procedures, guidelines and non-routine correspondence.
  • Mathematical Aptitude:
    Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; calculate percentages, fractions and decimals; calculate area and volume; may require the ability to perform mathematical operations involving basic geometry or trigonometry.
  • Functional Reasoning:
    Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form. Ability to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives.
