A local marine service company is looking for a mechanically inclined Marine Technician to join their service department. This is a great opportunity for someone with mechanical and basic electrical experience who is interested in working with marine engines and electronics. Previous marine experience is highly preferred, but the employer is willing to train the right candidate who has a strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
Job DescriptionThe Marine Technician will assist with the service, repair, installation, and maintenance of marine outboard motors and electronic systems. This position involves mechanical troubleshooting, 12-volt electrical work, equipment installation, and general marine service.
Candidates with previous experience working on Yamaha, Mercury, or Honda outboard motors are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities- Diagnose, service, and repair marine outboard motors
- Perform routine maintenance and mechanical repairs
- Troubleshoot basic marine electrical issues
- Work with 12-volt electrical systems
- Install and service marine electronics and equipment
- Assist with outboard motor installations
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems
- Perform inspections and testing following repairs or installations
- Maintain tools, equipment, and an organized service area
- Follow company safety and service procedures
- Communicate repair needs and concerns with the service team
- Learn additional marine repair and installation procedures as needed
- Strong mechanical background or mechanical aptitude required
- Basic understanding of 12-volt electrical systems
- Previous mechanical repair or technician experience preferred
- Marine or boating experience highly preferred
- Marine engine and electronics experience is a plus
- Yamaha outboard experience is a plus
- Mercury outboard experience is a plus
- Honda outboard experience is a plus
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail
- Dependable attendance and willingness to learn
