Community Service Worker , Bilingual Disease Prevention Specialist

About the Position

Public Health is currently seeking a bilingual Community Service Worker to join our Communicable Disease team (CD). The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting disease investigations related to communicable disease outbreaks and partner services for sexually transmitted infections (STI) within our community, linking newly diagnosed HIV cases to care, and assisting the team to manage and monitor syphilis cases to prevent incidences of congenital syphilis.

Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm.

• Conduct disease investigations related to communicable disease outbreaks and partner services for STIs.
• Identify and locate individuals who may have been exposed to reportable infectious communicable diseases.
• Conduct confidential case and contact interviews via phone and in person, including in clinic and field settings.
• Link individuals newly diagnosed with HIV to care.
• Assist in monitoring and managing syphilis cases to prevent congenital infections.
• Perform bilingual duties: interpret between English speakers and Limited English Proficient persons, orally translate documents, provide oral and written assistance, and translate written documents.

• Equivalent to the completion of two years of college coursework.

• Two years of responsible community service experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and training that demonstrates required knowledge and abilities.

• An interest in sexual health and infectious diseases is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.

• Bilingual proficiency test in English & Spanish required for successful hire.

• Offers of employment contingent upon consenting to and passing a drug screening test.
• Full background check required.
