Speech Language Pathologist

Position Overview

Speech Language Pathologist – Early Learning (Birth‑Age
5) and Special Student Services (K‑12). Full‑time, FTE 1.0. Assigned to various Oregon school districts. Compensation per negotiated contract, Licensed Salary Schedule.

• Facilitate child and student communication competence to support positive educational outcomes.
• Participate in multidisciplinary teams for intervention, evaluation, eligibility, and service decisions.
• Plan and implement ongoing speech and language programs/services with other educational services.
• Work with students exhibiting a full range of communication disorders including language, articulation, fluency, voice/resonance, and swallowing.
• Provide culturally and linguistically sensitive services to all students.
• Consult and collaborate with teachers and parents to support literacy development across language processes.
• Identify and implement appropriate instructional strategies, modifications, and accommodations.
• Support use of augmentative communication devices.
• Maintain accurate records and reports, including Medicaid billing when applicable.
• Conduct screenings, evaluations, and document progress, transition, and data collection.
• Attend and participate in team, school, and district meetings as required.
• Participate in professional development to increase knowledge and service quality.
• Drive between locations as required.
• Mentor and supervise graduate students or new SLPs, and supervise assistants or paraprofessionals as per licensure guidelines.

• Current Oregon Teaching License with Speech‑Impaired endorsement or State of Oregon Speech Pathology License.
• Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.
• Experience working with children with a variety of disabilities and needs.
• Valid Oregon driver’s license and personal vehicle for travel throughout the assignment area.

• Proficiency with computer and internet‑based applications, including email, Google Suites, and Ms Word.

• Ensure all students receive high‑quality, culturally and linguistically responsive services.
• Demonstrate awareness of language acquisition in diverse populations.
• Design evidence‑based interventions aligned with IEP/IFSP documentation.
• Develop school‑wide speech‑language services employing a continuum of delivery models.
• Address social, academic, and vocational needs impacting students’ educational attainment.
• Consult parents and teachers to broaden language access in curriculum, supporting literacy across listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
• Identify instructional strategies, modifications, and accommodations in collaboration with the educational team.
• Implement and support students with augmentative communication devices.
• Maintain records and reports, including Medicaid billing, as applicable.
• Screen and identify communication disorders in children with special needs.
• Act as a member of the multidisciplinary assessment team covering articulation, voice, fluency, and language impairments.
• Maintain IEP/IFSP records in accordance with special education and district guidelines.
• Prepare documentation promptly: evaluations, progress reports, transition reports, and mandatory data collection.
• Attend and participate in team, school, and district meetings as needed.
• Engage in professional development to enhance service quality.
• Conduct hearing screenings when necessary.
• Mentor graduate students, clinical fellows, and new SLPs, and supervise SLP‑Assistants or paraprofessionals as appropriate.
• Drive between locations as required.
• Perform other incidental duties as required.
