JOB DESCRIPTION
About The ‘Sota Project

The 'Sota Project is Minnesota's home for students who are ready to challenge attacks on our futures and build a Minnesota where Gen Z can lead and thrive. We are building a large-scale organizing and digital programming to reach and mobilize students across the state.

The outcome of Minnesota's elections this year will be critical. Young Minnesotans will have the opportunity to elect leaders who will be instrumental in reshaping a government that works for young people. With over 90 colleges and universities in Minnesota and hundreds of thousands of student voters, Gen Z has the numbers and the power to determine the outcomes of these elections.

The 'Sota Project will empower students to be leaders in their communities through voter registration, education, peer-to-peer outreach, and turnout efforts that reach students on campuses across the state.

We're building a scrappy and innovative operation to protect and expand democracy by elevating youth leadership across Minnesota — inspiring thousands of college students to take control of their futures, get organized, and vote.

This will be a crucial year for Minnesota, and we are in need of talented, dedicated staff ready to take on this challenge with us.

About the Role

The Fall Fellowship is an intensive, part-time leadership opportunity for current Minnesota college students who want to get hands-on campaign experience, build progressive power on their campuses, and turn out their peers to vote.

As a Fall Fellow, you will report directly to a Field Organizer. You will become the face of 'Sota on your campus, mastering peer-to-peer outreach mechanics, relational organizing, and voter registration compliance. You'll kick off your fellowship by representing your school at our statewide Student Voter Summit, where you will pitch and design a customized campus action plan.

What Will You Do?
Core responsibilities
  • Mobilize Your Peers: Run weekly on-campus shifts doing dorm storming, tabling in high-traffic quads, and conducting peer-to-peer voter contact using relational models (like our bring-a-friend referral flows).
  • Deliver Class Raps: Step up in front of lecture halls to give high-impact presentations, executing our "class rap" strategy to sign up voters and student workers.
  • Anchor Welcome Week & Campus Events: Host high-energy campus events, trivia nights, and happy hours, utilizing 'Sota merch.
  • Build a Volunteer File: Cultivate and maintain a personal roster of at least 25 student volunteers on your campus, keeping them engaged through the 4-step shift design ladder.
  • Defend Student Voting Rights: Complete your Voter Registration Compliance Certification to master MN same-day registration, absentee rules, and witness vouching requirements, ensuring every form collected passes our strict quality control audit.
  • Represent at the Summit: Attend the Student Voter Summit to build your campus plan and learn 'Sota's signature brand voice.
Who Are You?

A successful candidate for this role will:

  • Current Student. You are currently enrolled in a Minnesota college or university.
  • Reliable. You follow through on commitments, show up on time for shifts, and communicate clearly with your manager.
  • Mission-Driven. You want young people to win and are passionate about progressive politics.
  • Connected Leader: You are active on campus, or ready to build ties with Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), student leaders, and cultural clubs.
  • Eager Learner: No previous political experience is required! We will train you on the tools (VAN, Every Action, Mobilize) and skills you need to succeed.
  • Bold Commun
