Senior Manager, Engineering
Responsible for planning and directing all aspects of development activities within their teams, ensuring engineering projects, initiatives, and processes align with the organization’s policies and objectives.
Responsibilities- Generate and manage day‑to‑day work for team(s).
- Work with the Product Team to define and deliver on the 6‑month roadmap.
- Contribute to longer‑term planning and strategy with the director.
- Execute processes and be accountable for the outcomes of the R&D team.
- Manage teams that deliver high‑quality, innovative software solutions, collaborating with architects, developers, product managers, CSEs and support staff.
- Provide direction, clarity, and remove obstacles for the team.
- Instill Foundations of R&D in teams by modeling them daily.
- Ensure teams are motivated, performing well, and delivering work on time.
- Remove blockers preventing teams from completing their work.
- Make sure each team is clear on objectives and goals.
- Work with Engineers to deliver key features.
- Collaborate with Architects to define and execute the technical roadmap.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and champion adoption of secure coding standards.
- Oversee the full software development life cycle.
- Ensure teams follow ISMS regulations.
- Develop careers of team members through regular one‑on‑ones and coaching.
- Execute administrative responsibilities, including managing employee compensation, vacation time, conference and training budgets, and directorate‑level budget.
- Lead recruitment efforts for both full‑time and co‑op positions, contributing to hiring strategy.
- Eight years of experience in software development or a related role, or a Master’s degree plus five years in software development management, engineering leadership, or a related role.
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Background in networking, security, or distributed systems.
- Strong ownership mindset – comfortable driving issues independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience on multi‑platform OSs (Windows, macOS, Linux).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Power Shell, Python, Bash, Ruby).
- Ability to manage financial aspects of teams, including compensation, vacation, budget approval, and financial management.
