Job Summary
Material Handling Technician I role encompasses four different indirect labor positions:
Receiving, Shipping, Parts Warehouse, and Driver. This position will primarily focus on receiving.
- Manage inventory electronically using Syspro MRP system and other computer applications.
- Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials in stock; record locations and perform cycle counts.
- Provide excellent service to internal stakeholders and vendors.
- Operate lift trucks, pallet jacks, and other equipment safely to move parts and inventory.
- Maintain material‑handling equipment by completing pre‑use inspections and performing lock‑out/tag‑out as appropriate.
- Display awareness of safety guidelines, procedures, and policies; identify and report safety concerns.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Support ongoing reporting of key performance metrics.
- Contribute ideas on ways to improve or optimize warehousing procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 3–4 years of shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (noise, coolants, abrasives, heat, cold, adhesives, automated and manual machinery) while wearing required PPE (safety glasses, shoes, and Kevlar gloves).
- Familiarity with MRP systems and inventory transactions; basic understanding of inventory controls and cycle counting.
- Strong computer and data entry skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Good verbal and written communication skills with co‑workers, internal customers, and vendors.
- Demonstrated attendance, punctuality, and time sensitivity.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality‑conscious mindset.
- Works well in a collaborative and positive team environment.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL not required).
- Ability to follow all federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
- Minimum age 25 at time of application (due to insurance requirements).
Working environment: production floor, warehouse floor, and driving on highway and local roads.
Physical demands: repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs; standing, bending, walking for long periods; sitting and standing for long periods when driving.
Travel requirements: less than 5% of the time for most roles; more than 80% of the time in vehicle for the Driver role.
Shift or overtime may be required.
