Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Complex Issues:
    Provides supervision of the cashiering team in the absence of the Lead Technician. Works the window as needed. Assists cashiers in problem resolution for customers. Handles complex student problems and inquiries and is second-tier point of contact for window transactions. Under dual control, responsible for opening and/or closing the office and securing the vault. Under dual control, counts, records, and balances the currency and coin in the vault and cash box, as required by policy.

    Balances cash drawer at the end of the day. Processes affidavits and late tuition payments. Performs routine analysis and calculations in the processing of data. Evaluates and reconciles student accounts. Prepares student billing statements and account summaries.
  • Funds Handling:
    Assists in the revenue deposit functions for campus departments, incoming mail, tuition, and dropbox payments to ensure accurate and timely completion of financial transactions. Maintains communication with UVU departments who submit deposits to verify and ensure accuracy. Provides training to departments or individuals who are new to submitting departmental deposits.
  • Administrative Support:
    Performs confidential administrative duties requiring knowledge of policies/procedures of both assigned and work-related areas. Maintains and updates files, records, and/or other documents; answers telephones; replies to emails; and prepares and submits internal and external reports as needed.
  • Advising:
    Advises students, in person and by phone, regarding Student Finance and factors that impact their student account, including but not limited to tuition/fee charges, tuition tables, student billing and payment deadlines, late fees, payment plans, financial aid disbursement, and residual refunds, application of payment, third party payments, consequences of past due balances and delinquencies, student holds and future registration.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience are required. An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and related experience may be substituted to meet the two-year requirement.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting, cash control/security and record keeping processes.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and right to privacy.

Skills

  • Skill in listening, identifying and responding to customer needs to achieve and maintain excellent customer service.
  • Skill in the use of computers and computer applications including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing, etc.

Abilities

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and perform required tasks with precision and accuracy; must be detail-oriented; must be able to prioritize and successfully manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad student, staff, departmental, and community population.
