Position Announcement
Under the direction of the Assistant Director and Manager of the UVU Wee Care Center, the Assistant Instructor/Childcare Teacher assists with the center's daily operations. This role includes engaging with and providing care for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years in a drop-in, hourly childcare environment and providing customer service to UVU student parents and faculty. The center serves as a vital resource for UVU parent students, offering childcare services for up to three hours per session.
Summaryof Responsibilities
- Provide supervision and maintaining the required teacher-to-child ratios.
- Attend to children's basic needs, including diaper changes, toileting, and handwashing.
- Facilitate age-appropriate activities to encourage learning, creativity, and play.
- Foster a nurturing environment that supports social and emotional growth.
- Ensure the safety of children by adhering to established protocols and promptly addressing potential hazards or emergencies.
- Maintain clean and well-organized classrooms to provide a safe and welcoming environment.
- Manage check-in and check-out procedures accurately.
- Manage and report payment issues or policy compliance issues and otherwise provide customer service, ensuring center and university policy compliance.
- Complete and maintain all required paperwork, including attendance and incident reports.
- High school diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 6 months childcare experience and/or customer service experience.
- Must be a current UVU student.
- Knowledge of public education, family studies, early childhood education and best practices, and customer service best practices.
- Skills in general principles to specific conditions in childcare.
- Skills in providing customer service and adherence to policies and procedures and explaining these clearly to customers.
- Ability to follow oral and written procedures and instructions.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and backgrounds.
- Ability to exercise effective interpersonal problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team.
