Position Announcement
The UVU Policy Office is seeking a new student intern for its editorial internship. Required documents include a letter of recommendation from an instructor or employer, one writing sample and one editing sample or two writing samples, and a class schedule. All applicants will be required to take an editing test.
Summary of ResponsibilitiesDuties include, but are not limited to: proofreading, editing, policy research, and other tasks as needed. Students can arrange to receive internship credit.
Qualifications / Licenses / CertificationsMust be a current UVU student, have taken or are currently enrolled in English 2050 (advanced editing class) and/or have equivalent experience, have a working knowledge of how to use the Chicago Manual of Style, and have proofreading and editing experience. Students with prior publication experience and advanced writing and editing skills are encouraged to apply. We have typically hired students from the English and Political Science programs, but we encourage qualified students from other disciplines to apply.
Preferred qualifications include familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel, a schedule that is negotiable Monday–Friday, 8 am-5 pm, hours per week ranging from 15 to 19, and the student's class schedule will be accommodated.

This internship could potentially last more than one school year for the qualified candidate, depending on job performance.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills, editing and proofreading skills (required for editorial interns), project management, research and analysis, self-motivated and able to work independently, able to manage time and complete projects within reasonable time frames, comfortable working with people from all levels of management at the University, punctual and able to maintain a consistent schedule.
