Position Description
The Salon Retail Coordinator is responsible for the operation and functional management of the front desk. This position reports to the Salon Manager and is nonexempt. Good customer service is essential; the goal is to make each guest feel valued and important. The ideal candidate can smile, engage in small talk, and be responsive to guest needs while multitasking.
Client Sales and Service Responsibilities- Suggest retail products, upsell, and promote larger quantities and services.
- Cross‑sell services to other areas of the salon.
- Respond to customer service issues and promptly address complaints.
- Handle refunds and re‑do’s in a professional and friendly manner.
- Maintain ongoing product, service, and industry knowledge through continuous education.
- Promote business outside the salon.
- Adjust scheduling to meet client needs.
- Greet clients within sixty seconds of entry.
- Answer telephone calls within three rings, with a smile, stating the name and salon location.
- Listen for a reply before placing the client on hold.
- Efficiently schedule, cancel, and reschedule client appointments.
- Handle POS transactions timely and efficiently.
- Emphasize pre‑bookings during client check‑out.
- Ensure the reception area and salon meet and exceed State Board Regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
- Effectively organize time and resources to meet sales goals.
- Communicate with Salon Management regarding issues and needs.
- Meet salon guidelines for attendance and tardiness.
- Maintain an updated professional appearance and adhere to the salon dress code.
- GED or high school diploma.
- Proficient in computer‑based business software.
- Ability to handle money, count, and make change.
- Customer service or cosmetic industry experience preferred.
- Use a computer keyboard, standard telephone, and other related business equipment.
- Work with chemicals and chemical compounds.
- Stand for up to eight hours per shift.
- Lift up to 25 pounds.
