Overview
Salt Lake City VA Medical Center is actively recruiting a Board-Certified Deputy Chief of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation to help care for our Nation’s Veterans. The Deputy Chief reports directly to the Chief/Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service.
The Deputy Chief will work primarily in the outpatient setting, with opportunities to participate in collaborative clinical research and inpatient acute care. The role includes providing general Physiatry services for outpatient management of neuromuscular disorders, musculoskeletal trauma, acute and chronic pain, deformity or amputation, cardiac or pulmonary disease, and other disabling conditions. The Deputy Chief may also participate in rehabilitation services such as spasticity management, prosthetics, and inpatient rehabilitation consultation.
Responsibilities- Co‑lead a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Section comprised of physiatrists, chiropractors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses and affiliated staff.
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to Veterans across the spectrum of disease severity.
- Participate in collaborative clinical research and inpatient acute care when appropriate.
- Support education and teaching of PM&R residents, fellows, medical students and other providers.
- Board Certification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
- Medical Degree (or foreign equivalent).
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
- U.S. citizenship (permanent residents only if no qualified citizens can be recruited).
- Experience in management of a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service and leadership/administrative background.
