The Associate Provost of Academic Innovation at Utah Valley University provides strategic leadership at the institutional level, shaping innovative and experiential learning initiatives that advance the university's mission and academic priorities. Reporting to the Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, this role oversees the management and coordination of key innovation and engaged learning programs, ensuring they are thoughtfully integrated, effective, and aligned with university-wide goals.

The position plays a central role in strengthening UVU's commitment to student-centered, practice-based education.

This role is well-suited for a visionary academic leader who brings a deep understanding of national best practices in project-based, experiential, and engaged learning. The Associate Provost guides programming across all divisions of the Innovation Academy, fostering collaboration, continuous improvement, and academic excellence. * Oversee and advance the university's academic engagement and outreach activities through cross-institutional collaboration to forward the mission of innovative learning, including oversight of the Innovation Academy:
Academic Service Learning, Career and Internship Center, Office for Education Abroad, Undergraduate Research and Creative Works, Education Abroad, Integrated Studies Program, Project Based Learning, Credit for Prior Learning, Industry Certifications, Workforce Alignment, FanX Studios, and SCULPT.

* Provide leadership for the university's commitment to project-based and engaged learning through collaboration with the academic colleges and schools, strategic planning, faculty outreach, and community partnerships.

* Responsible for the special programs and projects as assigned by the Provost/SVPAA and makes recommendations to the Provost/SVPAA for the appointment, reappointment, and termination of staff within areas of responsibility.

* Maintain and align the Innovation Academy budget in alignment with institutional and state goals and priorities.

* Build and strengthen external partnerships.

* Represent the university on statewide, regional, and national committees and organizations.

* Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Graduation from an accredited institution with a terminal degree in a field appropriate for appointment in a department at the University and three to five years of full-time experience in a strategic leadership role.

Preferred Qualifications:

* PhD in a related area.

* Experience with international education programming.

* Experience managing grants and contracts.

* Three to five years of successful senior-level management experience leading a team.

Knowledge:

Current knowledge of:
Specific duties and responsibilities of departments and functions within the scope of engaged learning; undergraduate research and creative works; grants management within an academic setting; engaged teaching and learning; service learning; academic internships and career planning; and international and intercultural education. Knowledge of current research in high-impact practices, co-curricular engagement, and creative works. Knowledge of and ability to provide leadership for the university's commitment to engaged learning and workforce readiness.

Knowledge of and ability to ensure responsible allocation of human and fiscal resources.

Skills:

Demonstrated ability to exercise effective interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Successfully apply strong leadership, management, communication, and organizational skills; effectively represent a complex institution in a variety of public settings with confidence and integrity; and work effectively and efficiently within a shared governance environment. Employ a critical lens to engage a diversity of viewpoints and perspectives in designing effective curriculum, programs, and services that advance the university's engagement mission.

Engage university constituents in cross-divisional collaboration to build coalitions and create alignment, leveraging internal and external resources, capabilities, and stakeholders.

Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to employ appropriate management techniques and procedures and hold supervised staff accountable for efficient and effective management. Sensitive and respectful of the needs of a diverse population of employees and internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as part of the Academic Affairs and university leadership teams. Ability to facilitate contracts and negotiations with external partners (e.g., FanX Studios and Loveland Living Planet Aquarium).
