- VA VITAL Program Support:
Completes required training for handling student information, health records, ethics, and privacy, including FERPA and HIPAA. Conducts outreach to new and continuing military‑affiliated students, assists with initial and follow‑up appointments, and performs structured intake interviews using approved tools. Supports students in accessing VA healthcare and campus academic resources, maintains accurate documentation of outreach and mentoring activities, and participates in regular supervisory and team meetings with the VITAL Program Coordinator.
Assists in onboarding and training additional peer mentors as needed. Provides education on campus, VA, and community resources to help students address their needs and maximize their benefits. Participates in crisis response by connecting students to appropriate services, and, as time permits, supports VITAL outreach events, tabling, and program awareness initiatives. Supports retention and completion outcomes and data efforts. - Event Attendance and Support:
Attends campus and selected community events such as orientations, Jumpstart, tabling, and workshops to provide outreach and support to military‑affiliated students. Assists with setup, student engagement, and breakdown of materials, ensuring a visible and welcoming presence for the Military‑Affiliated Student Hub. Supports the MASH Outreach Coordinator during events to facilitate smooth operations and positive student interactions. - Social Media and Marketing Support:
Creates, publishes, and monitors content for the Military‑Affiliated Student Hub’s social media channels, including Instagram, Linked In, Facebook, and Campus Groups. Promotes events, resources, and services to military‑affiliated students and helps maintain up‑to‑date digital and physical materials to increase student awareness and engagement with available programs and services. - Other Duties:
Performs additional job‑related duties as assigned in support of Military‑Affiliated Student Hub operations.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s degree; AND two years of experience in mentoring, outreach, event support, social media, marketing, or higher education; OR any combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling four years.
Preferred Qualifications- Veteran or military‑affiliation.
- Drivers License.
- Knowledge of common challenges and transition issues faced by military‑affiliated students, including veterans, service members, and dependents.
- Knowledge of VA education benefits, basic eligibility requirements, and referral processes.
- Knowledge of student retention, completion, outreach, and advisement best practices.
- Knowledge of campus‑based academic support, wellness, counseling, and self‑care resources.
- Knowledge of FERPA, HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and ethical guidelines applicable to student support roles.
- Skill in effective interpersonal communication and student engagement.
- Skill in written and verbal communication for outreach, documentation, and referrals.
- Skill in the use of office productivity tools including word processing, spreadsheets (Excel), Qualtrics, and email (Outlook).
- Skill in the use of social media platforms (Instagram, Linked In, Facebook, Campus Groups).
- Skill in the use of texting and outreach platforms (e.g., Cadence Mongoose).
- Skill in conflict de‑escalation and crisis communication.
- Skill in time management, organization, accountability, and project coordination.
- Skill in the appropriate use of artificial intelligence tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, Perplexity) to support communication and workflow.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail and follow‑through.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to anticipate student needs and respond proactively.
- Ability to solve problems creatively within established policies and procedures.
