Job Overview
The Department of Psychology and Counseling at Utah Valley University invites applications for an ongoing lecturer in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC). This full‑time, teaching‑focused position carries a 5‑5 course load within the CACREP‑accredited Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, with the possibility of teaching select undergraduate psychology courses as needed.
Responsibilities- Teach graduate‑level courses including ACA Ethics, Research and Program Evaluation, Practicum, Internship, and other courses as assigned.
- Deliver instruction across multiple modalities (face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online), employing innovative strategies and experiential learning.
- Teach, grade coursework, hold regular office hours, and mentor students.
- Design, review, and revise curriculum and courses in accordance with departmental, college, and university guidelines.
- Further develop pedagogical skills and course materials.
- Attend required meetings and trainings.
- Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling required by start date.
- Degree from a CACREP‑accredited program strongly preferred.
- Eligibility for or possession of licensure as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC) or equivalent in Utah.
- Strong knowledge of counseling theories, evidence‑based practices, ethical standards, and clinical supervision.
- Experience teaching or learning diagnosis, research, supervision, or related fields.
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Counselor Education and Supervision or a closely related field.
- Clinical experience in mental‑health settings and supervision of counselors‑in‑training.
- Familiarity with CACREP accreditation processes and standards.
- History of demonstrating respect for students and colleagues.
A license as a CMHC in Utah or a license‑eligible credential is required.
