Overview

The Department of Applied Sciences, Technology, and Education (ASTE) at Utah State University invites applications for a 9-month position in the Business Education teacher preparation program and will begin August 1, 2026. Depending on qualifications, this position may be filled as either a non-tenure-track Professional Practice appointment or a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The Professional Practice role carries a workload of 90% teaching and 10% service.

The tenure-track role includes 75% teaching, 20% research, and 5% service.

This position is based in Brigham City and serves a regional area that includes Box Elder, Weber, Davis, and Morgan Counties. Establishing faculty presence in this region strengthens program visibility and enhances support for students. While the position is rooted in the Brigham City region, it is part of a broader statewide system dedicated to serving students across Utah. The Department of Applied Sciences, Technology and Education delivers programs throughout the state, extending its reach to meet students wherever they are.

As a faculty member within this system, individuals benefit from expanded teaching opportunities and the ability to engage with a diverse student population in meaningful and impactful ways.

This position directly supports the vision of the ASTE department’s focus on Career and Technical Education (CTE), which aim to prepare students for success through relevant and rigorous learning experiences aligned with workforce needs and connected to postsecondary opportunities. The Business Education program prepares future educators to teach business-related subjects at the junior high and high school levels. The program integrates core business concepts (e.g., accounting, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, business communications, digital applications, web development, and related CTE fields) with pedagogical training, including teaching methods, clinical and student teaching experiences.

The majority of the coursework is delivered in an online or hybrid format. Students are also admitted to the Secondary Teacher Education Program (STEP) in the College of Education and Human Services.

Candidates must have an earned graduate degree in Business Education, Secondary Teacher Education, Career and Technical Education, or a closely related field (e.g., business, career and technical education, workforce development, instructional technology, or related disciplines) by the date of appointment.
