- Utah Professional Secondary teaching license.
- Out‑of‑state Professional Secondary license.
- Associate Secondary Educator License (AEL) through the Utah State Board of Education.
- Currently licensed applicants: copy of the current state license.
- AEL applicants: copy of highest university degree and AEL eligibility letter.
- New graduates without official license: conferral letter on university letterhead showing degree earned, anticipated graduation date, and recommended license type and content area.
The classroom teacher is responsible for creating a positive learning environment where students develop skills to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, lifelong learners, and productive citizens. Responsibilities include establishing rapport, motivating students, differentiating curriculum, implementing research‑based instructional methods, and using technology in instruction. The teacher implements Proficiency‑Based Grading and the Granite Way in student evaluations.
Essential Functions- Teach core content areas outlined in the USBE core curriculum and other approved learning activities.
- Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and provide individualized and small‑group instruction.
- Use effective teaching techniques that maximize instructional time.
- Integrate computers and other classroom technological support equipment.
- Supervise students indoors and outdoors in all weather and air quality conditions.
- Maintain a functional learning atmosphere through discipline strategies.
- Evaluate student growth, maintain records, and prepare progress reports.
- Implement Proficiency‑Based Learning and the Granite Way.
- Communicate with parents via conferences, calls, e‑mails, planners, and the school website.
- Cooperate with professional staff on student growth areas.
- Attend faculty meetings and participate in educator evaluation procedures.
- Administer student attendance policies, standardized tests, and faculty committees.
- Select and requisition books and instructional materials; maintain inventory records.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education and self‑selected growth activities.
- Model professional and ethical standards and uphold laws, district policies, and procedures.
- Be a positive role model.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Clear criminal background check approved by USBE.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Utah Professional Educator License in the relevant licensure area, with endorsements if applicable.
- Ability to perform tasks at a keyboard or workstation for extended periods.
The teacher must sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and move supplies up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Physical Requirements- Regular speaking and hearing; standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching; occasional climbing or balancing.
- Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
- Frequent lifting up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds; certain subjects may require up to 50 pounds.
History endorsement required; ESL endorsement preferred. Preference is given to candidates willing to assist with extracurricular activities.
