Utah Valley University is seeking an engaging and technically proficient Adjunct Instructor in Physics Design who is passionate about student success and applied learning.

This role offers the opportunity to design and deliver dynamic instruction that blends theory with hands-on practice in classroom, laboratory, and shop settings. Instructors play an essential role in shaping students' understanding of physics design principles by developing clear course objectives, creating relevant instructional materials, and using effective teaching methods that promote critical thinking, technical skill development, and real-world application.

In addition to assessing student learning and maintaining accurate academic records, instructors are encouraged to stay current with evolving trends, technologies, and best practices in the field. Summary of Responsibilities
  • Develops and follows an approved course of study with clear, measurable objectives for each Physics Design course taught.
  • Prepares and updates instructional materials, including course outlines, syllabi, exams, mock-ups, visual aids, and instructional guides.
  • Instructs and supervises students in classroom, laboratory, and shop environments using a variety of effective teaching methods.
  • Assesses student learning using appropriate evaluation and testing methods aligned with course objectives.
  • Fosters a student-centered learning environment that supports engagement, skill development, and academic success.
  • Maintains accurate and timely records related to student attendance, performance, and progress.
  • Stays current in Physics Design and related fields through ongoing professional development, industry research, and engagement with technical publications.
  • Maintains and completes any required certifications, credentials, or continuing education relevant to the discipline.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Physics or a closely related area to teach Physics laboratory courses.

Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in Physics or a closely related area to teach lecture courses.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Knowledge of Elementary Physics, Elementary Astronomy, and the Survey of Physical Science.
