Lecturer - Japanese

Utah Valley University is seeking a Japanese Lecturer who is passionate about student success and global engagement. * Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study with measurable objectives for each course taught. Prepares instructional materials, including examinations, course outlines, syllabi, visual aids, and presentations.

* Instructs, manages, and supervises individuals and groups through lectures, discussions, conferences, demonstrations, field trips, individualized instruction, and other appropriate methods. Evaluates instruction and learning through the use of written, oral, and performance tests.

* Maintains a student-oriented approach to education. Recommends students for advancement and graduation. Maintains and submits accurate and current reports and records regarding student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up. Establishes and maintains regular office hours and advises students during these office hours as well as at other times, as needed. Actively engages students in lectures, discussions, and laboratories.

* Fosters and engages in collegial relations with the community. Promotes diversity on campus by serving on relevant committees, developing curriculum, and participating in relevant programs.

* Assists advisers, the department chair, program coordinator, faculty, and department staff in maintaining an effective program.

Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master's degree in a related field to the coursework being taught. Demonstrated successful teaching at the college or university level is required.
