Position: 2026/27 Taylor Elementary School PE Planning Time Technician - TA115N

Planning Time Instructional Technician – Lane 2

$17.81 per hour, 4.8 hours per day, 3 days per week (M, W, Th), 177 days per year. Must be at least 18 years of age or older to apply. There are no benefits with this position.

Eligibility

To be highly qualified under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), applicants may take the Title I Paraprofessionals Test (available through Nebo School District), have 2 years of college (48 semester hours), or hold an Associate Degree. Proof of degree or transcript must be attached to the application online.

Placement on the salary schedule will be reviewed by a supervisor and finalized through the Human Resources and Payroll Departments. Candidates already employed with Nebo School District, applying for a new position with a lane increase, may see a change in overall steps in the new position if applied for, accepted, and not in the same job category.

Requirements

Experience — Job‐related experience is desired.

Education — High school diploma or equivalent.

Clearances — Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.

Purpose Statement

The job of Instructional Technician – Planning Time is done to improve students' success in the basic core skills (e.g., music, computers, art, physical education, etc.). The role involves instructing and modeling the necessary skills to perform assignments.

This job reports to the Building Principal.

Essential Functions
  • Adapts classroom materials under the direction of the teacher (e.g., music, art, computers, physical education) to support and reinforce classroom objectives.
  • Consults with teachers and other school personnel to assist student progress and implement student objectives.
  • Evaluates students to determine the need for further individualized assessment and instruction.
  • Implements instructional programs and lesson plans (e.g., music, art, computers, physical education) to assist the teacher in improving students' academic success through a defined course of study.
  • Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and students' files/records to ensure availability of items and reliable information.
  • Monitors individuals or groups of students in various situations to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Participates in in‑service workshops and training to receive and/or convey job‑related information.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Prepares core subject‑specific lessons appropriate for individuals or small groups to implement learning goals.
  • Provides direct instructional services to individuals, small groups, or entire classes under the supervision of the assigned classroom teacher.
  • Responds to emergency situations (e.g., injured student, fights) to resolve immediate safety concerns.
  • Responds to inquiries to solve problems, provide information, or referral.
Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications
  • Skills – Perform single, technical tasks, adhere to safety practices, operate standard office equipment including computers and software, prepare and maintain accurate records.
  • Knowledge – Basic math (fractions, percents, ratios), read diverse manuals, write documents in prescribed formats, present information, understand complex instructions, knowledge of grammar, age‑appropriate activities, health and safety standards related to student behavior.
  • Ability – Schedule activities/meetings, gather and collate data, use job‑related equipment, work with diverse individuals, interpret data, problem‑solve, maintain confidentiality, adapt to changing priorities, work as a team, handle frequent interruptions, work positively with students with behavioral challenges, and have reliable attendance.
Responsibility

Working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; leading, guiding, or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget; utilizing resources from other work units if required.

Working Environment

Job demands occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; fine finger dexterity. Physical demands: 20% sitting, 30% walking, 50% standing. Hazard‑free environment.
