Job Overview
Join Utah Valley University's GEAR UP program and help empower students to achieve their educational goals. As a part-time GEAR UP Assistant Coordinator, you'll play an important role in supporting student success through outreach, event planning, and program development. Working closely with the GEAR UP Region Counselor, you'll help create engaging workshops, coordinate campus visits, and contribute to initiatives that encourage college readiness and retention.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with students, collaborating with others, and making a positive impact on educational opportunities within the community.
- Assists with recruiting and training of part-time support staff according to department and program policy guidelines.
- Assists in the implementation of program evaluation data and assessment to meet grant objectives and guidelines.
- Assists with the coordination of part-time staff in their efforts to communicate program information with students, parents, staff, and school personnel.
- Assists with the planning and conducting of student and parent-focused workshops and events to help prepare students for their current courses as well as preparation for secondary education.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or a combination of education and experience totaling four years.
Knowledge- Knowledge of and experience with student support programs.
- Knowledge of computer applications.
- Skills in tracking, managing, and analyzing data are needed to assist in generating reports, strategic decision-making, and program improvement.
- Skills to collaborate with faculty/staff, and /or community patrons to design and create programs or workshops that enhance the knowledge of students and parents.
- Ability to identify program needs and utilize available resources.
- Ability to analyze data to determine trends and program effectiveness.
- Ability to maintain ongoing contact with faculty for reporting and assessment purposes.
- Ability to be self-directed and complete tasks without supervision.
- Ability to engage with employees and build community.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to think strategically.
